ISAAC GRACIE THE DEATH OF YOU & I

Since Isaac Gracie’s unprecedented emergence is 2015 with the alluringly lofi song ‘Last Words’, the young songwriter from West London hS continued to inspire awe with the distressingly beautiful Songs From My Bedroom EP and a healthy repetition of live performances. Over time Gracie has swapped the acoustic guitar and bashful bedroom whispers for cinematic production and electric guitar (‘All In My Mind’ and ‘Reverie’) and now it’s the turn of chic lounge rhythms and monstrous rock riffs. Believe it not, both of those styles can be found in Isaac Gracie’s recently released single ‘The Death Of You & I’. Gracie rapidly flips the switch from nostalgic lyrics and slinking guitars to guttural shouts and thrashing guitars; the contrast emphasised by the artist’s alternating performance styles in the music video, directed by Tash Tung. Holed up a a sparsely furnished, dimly lit attic bedroom, supposedly in Paris or London, Gracie turns over memories of a relationship’s break-up. The longer he lingers in past, the more he loses himself to frustration and, consequently, self destruction. ‘The Death Of You & I’ is a truly original song, setting the bar high for the rest of his upcoming EP of the same name, which already promises to feature a collaboration with one of our favourite producers Mura Masa. Look out for The Death Of You & I EP on September 29th. - HT
